Firin’ Squad are one of the leading DJ outfits in the UK, today. They are on the front line and they are standing tall. Getting there isn’t easy, staying there is even harder. But the fact that these guys have now been in the game for over fifteen years is a testament to their talent, passion and work ethic.
They tour non-stop and their club schedule is relentless. Currently they have a weekly residency at one of the UK’s longest running urban club nights, Bubbling Over – you can catch them behind the decks every Sunday night at Bar Rumba in London. They also continue to play the biggest nights all over the UK and abroad – recent international gigs have included Dubai, New York, Russia, Ukraine, MTV Block Parties in Lithuania, and all the summer holiday hotspots like Ayia Napa and Ibiza.
But where ever they are, and whether they’re playing to a few hundred people in an intimate venue or on a stage in front of a few thousand, the aim is always the same, and that is to rock the party!
There have been the chart-topping albums – Firin’ Squad have compiled and mixed seven releases to date. These collections of urban music have all proved to be very successful, with the four releases in The Very Best Of Pure R&B series alone having combined sales of over one million CD’s.
They are also accomplished presenters. The trio were signed up by Choice FM in August 2007, just 18 months after having left Kiss 100 where they had held down a weekly show for seven years.
You can now catch the guys in a brand new slot, every Saturday between 8pm and 10pm. Broadcasting live from London's Leicester Square, the guys will be firin' up your Saturday nights, mixing up all the big tunes to get you in the mood to go party, hard!!
Since January 2007, the guys have been providing in-flight entertainment for the UK’s second largest airline, BMI. You can catch them in the mix, with the Urban Show on all long haul flights – so if you’re off on your hols, make sure you plug in your headsets and check it out!
In August 2006 they launched a project that fully embraced the digital music revolution. Firin’ Squad Unsigned Podcast – a series of monthly audio programmes designed to spotlight the finest unsigned and independent talent from the UK’s urban music scene, available to download for free from the iTunes Music Store.
Each half hour show features a selection of the hottest tracks from various artists and also a studio guest in interview, with an exclusive live performance. The series not only has the support of all the artists on the urban scene, but also has the highest accolade from the radio industry. The boys won Gold at the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2007, and were nominated again in 2008.
