Technically, William, the second amendment implicitly protects the gun industry, it just isn't explicitly mentioned. But without it, the individual right to keep and bear arms would be a farce.

Agreed, the more unpopular speech is, the more it must be protected in order for the right to mean anything at all.

Of course this is just as true when the neocons try to claim criticism of their foreign policy in a "time of war" is "irresponsible", as it is of the Liberals trying to censor politically incorrect speech...and is true even when BOTH of those groups agree that some idea should be subject to chilling effect.
