We
actually enumerate how many outbursts have occurred in a Congressional
joint session for the liberal reporters and politicos and look at the
constitution in the current Healthscare debate.

The whole principle is wrong. It's like demanding that grown men live on skim milk because the baby can't have steak. -- Robert Heinlein, The Man Who Sold the Moon (1949), on censorship

"A Natural Intensity Unfolding: We the People, Politics, and the Press."

Thought that is silenced is always rebellious. Majorities, of course, are often mistaken. This is why the silencing of minorities is necessarily dangerous. Criticism and dissent are the indispensable antidote to major delusions. -- Alan Barth, The Loyalty of Free Men (1951)

Jae Mann I can't help but wonder how many of the people posting about how they have the right to critique the current president (which they do) are the same people that were telling me and mine to stop being unpatriotic or unamerican in our critique of the war mongering, right restricting, constitution ignoring previous president.

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else...

Can any of you seriously say the Bill of Rights could get through Congress today? It wouldn't even get out of committee. - F. Lee Bailey, Newsweek, 17 April 1967

If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all. - Noam Chomsky

William Cook the press is the only business protected by the constitution. your creator gave you your right to free speech, even in hate. You do not have the right to be offended, you have the right to ignore it. It is the thought that the state or the oligarchy gives rights, that is what has condemned most of man kind to live as slaves.

Steve
Alex Lawson is wrong. The 1st exists to protect language that is offensive including so-called "hate" speech. We need more free speech not less. "Hate speech" is a propoganda tool used by leftist "progressives" to eliminate opposing viewpoints they don't like. The far-right engages in censorship but they are far less s...uccessful at it than the left, and their attempts are feeble and cartoonish.Read More

Jeff Wooddell I deal in very few absolutes in my life, but the First Amendment is one of them. Without it, nothing else is worth squat!
