The Memoirs of my mother, Dorothy Ballard Pence, contains material about State Bank of Amboy. My grandfather, Guy Ballard, was one of the group to establish the bank after the John Kendall fiasco. A copy of her book can probably be found at the Converse library or AMboy Friend's church libtary. Also many citizens h...ave copies.
She writes about the bank robberies too---one a few days before I was born in Oct. 1927
