As someone who has created great schools, and who knows for a fact that through charter schools (less government control) and vouchers or tax credits (even less government control) we could provide immense educational advantages to our most disadvantaged youth. See Morerespect Obama for most is the fact that he advocated for charter schools, which the teachers' unions hate, when he was neck-and-neck with Hillary Clinton in the primaries, while she was promoting the straightforward teachers' union agenda. This was a very courageous act on his part, and I expect he did it because he knows from personal experience that inner city blacks are the constituency most committed to school choice, because they are getting screwed the worst by the current system.

So, yes, government schools are socialism, it is the most socialistic component of our entire economy and while they serve the nomenklatura in the wealthy suburbs reasonably well, the working class are getting screwed and inner city blacks are really getting screwed by this socialism.
