Last night the Fort Worth City Council voted 6-3 to amend the city's Anti Discrimination Ordinance to include the transgendered, and persons who demonstrate gender identity and gender expression differently.
I am exceedingly proud that my hometown has taken this step to protect this minority community. I have not perhap...s been as attuned to the "T" within LGBT as I could have but now know that to include the transgendered in our ordinance means ALL citizens are safer than they were yesterday from discrimination and abuse.
To those who opposed the amendment on religious grounds I remind them that Jesus said, "'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.'- Matthew 25:41-45
