The Fretboard Journal Fretboard Journal publisher Jason Verlinde tagged along with Clapton's Guitar author Allen St. John and visited Christie's on November 6, 2009. The pair got a sneak peek of the December 3 auction of country music memorabilia. Here are some iPhone shots.

The Fretboard Journal A bit of ukulele magic for a lazy Saturday morning...

The Fretboard Journal I've heard far too many stories about stolen guitars. For a nice change, here's one about a guitar the thieves didn't take. Do any of you out there have a similar story of the one that didn't get away?

This is my Univox. The only guitar to survive an instrument theft from my Ford Econoline that was parked outside of the YMCA I was working at in Youngstown, Ohio one summer. It was gotten on trade that I would have regretted if it weren’t for this guitar being part of it. ...

The Fretboard Journal It's been a while since I ran a What the Heck Is He Playing ? clip so I thought it was time I posted one. The last couple of times you guys figured it it out in less than 3 minutes but this time I think it will take you a bit longer to puzzle out what three, yes three, double necks guitars the Fresno surf band the Neptunes are playing in this clip.

The Neptunes: Tom Walzem plays lead on his signature doubleneck electric @ Brookdale Lodge 2005... Phil Dirt's "farewell party"... Many bands (including the Aquamarines) participated...

The Fretboard Journal This clip is the opposite of the What The Heck Is He Playing? posts I run from time to time. In this one, we all know exactly what Adrien Moignard is playing: a 1946 Selmer guitar with the serial number of 607. He, along with a number of other fine players, made a CD where they each recorded a track playing that guitar. For more on the project, you can go here: http://www.selmer607.com/eng/

Adrien Moignard plays "Billets Doux" on an authentic Selmer guitar (#607). This is an alternate take, the album take is even better. From "Selmer #607" recording sessions. More to come... Web : www.selmer607.com (français) Web : www.selmer607.com/eng/ (english) MySpace : www.myspace.com/selmer607

The Fretboard Journal Just try this with a wooden guitar! Look for a story by Henry Kaiser in an upcoming issue.

One of the things that I have always loved about the McMurdo dive locker is diving supervisor Rob Robbins' simply great taste in music, and the tunes that DJ Rob selects to play in the background while we are working in the locker. ...

Jaimie Muehlhausen Anyone that was into the Wilco story, here's a cool link showing the inside of "the loft." http://loftlifemag.com/mu/?p=3503

Barney Sheehan What happened to the Fretboard Journal blog? I went there just now and it just says Hello World.

The Fretboard Journal I just created a (hopefully growing) list of luthiers/instrument builders on Twitter. If I'm missing anyone, let me know. And check out some of the photos Vermont Instruments has been posting. Great stuff. http://twitter.com/fbjournal/luthiers
