Schweiz: Infos über Lawinengefahr
Wer dieser Tage in der Schweiz unterwegs ist, sollte sich über mögliche Lawinengefahren informieren. Heftige Schneefälle vor allem im Nordtessin haben bereits zu Chaos auf den Straßen geführt. Der Verkehr am Gotthardmassiv war zeitweise lahmgelegt. Auf dem Oberalppass wurde ein Zug der ...Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn von einer Lawine aus den Schienen gerissen. Zwei Passagiere wurden leicht verletzt. Die Bahnstrecke zwischen Andermatt und Sedrun bleibt bis auf weiteres geschlossen. Täglich aktuelle Schnee- und Lawinenprognosen gibt es auf der Homepage des Instituts für Schnee- und Lawinenforschung in Davos. Dort kann das Merkblatt "Achtung Lawinen" in einer vollständig überarbeiteten Neuauflage kostenlos heruntergeladen werden.

The first of December and I smell snow! Lets hope it keeps to for a few weeks so that the up and coming trips have t...hen blue skies and large amounts of powder... My toes are twitching!
We were supposedly going to be at Skimax, this has now been put back a week so that our Xmas Party can turn into a shopping party. Just think of all those presents you can buy yourselves (oh and loved ones!) with the deals that Skimax have. So don't forget: before you all rush out and buy new gear, Skimax our sponsor will be keeping the tills open for us to take advantage of their bargains! The planned social should is now the 16th Dec. We'll keep you posted, but if you do go before make sure you ask about a discount! ;-)
Thank you to all who attended the AGM on 24th November at Waxy's. It's just one of those things that we have to do.

You've always dreamt of it... Here is it! For the first time in its history, the club takes you to the North. We ...will be based in Levi, the finest of Finnish ski resorts, a world-cup alpine ski resort with 27 lifts and 44 runs thereof 15 with lightning, superpipe, halfpipe and snowpark. So, yes, downhill skiing (and snowboarding) is included, but not only. The true "Lappland adventures" experience is also about cross-country skiing (230km skiing tracks thereof 28km with lightning), ice fishing / snow shoeing, and visit to really exotic places like the Lainio snow village. Not to forget the numerous optional activities: husky-sledding, reindeer safaris, ice swimming, arctic diving, or snowmobiling (886km of tracks!!)... Imagine... Why not a night safari to a traditional Lappish hut where you'll be watching the mystical northern lights while cooking sausages (oh, how exotic for us Frankfurters) and testing the local specialties. And back to alpine or cross-country skiing the next morning, in the most natural landscape. After one week of that regime, you will never feel so fit.
Levi is easily accessible from Kittilä airport (8km), so don't hesitate too long and quickly book your flight. We will be staying in one of the best hotels of Levi. The Hotel Hullu Poro (the "Crazy Reindeer") is located in the centre of the village, very close to the slopes. It has numerous restaurants, cocktail bar and Porocks nightclub and (of course!) Finnish wellness area. Let our Finnish TC guide you through this unique experience, not to be missed. Snow and fun guaranteed!
PS: Some people have already booked their return flights for around 300-360,00 EUR. Get them now while they are cheap!
