With all those books at one's disposal it begs the question, "what book are you reading?" You'll find the answer for... two of our employees at the link below. Additional books will be added to the reading list in the days/weeks ahead.Read More

Notice the Garrett tower anchoring the background as these geese, led by a three-headed delux goose, flew south over the Northwestern lagoon yesterday.

I saw that. And while I am thrilled that they are returning I could not help but remember that it was the wettest October in 50million years (I might be exaggerating a bit) and they are darn lucky the powers that be didn't decide it was time to start raining at that moment.

How about starting a Book Review for the Garrett-Evangelical F.B. page? Stefanie Grey Greiner and I are interested in taking a good look at Cheryl Anderson's new book, "Ancient Laws and Contemporary Controversies". My idea is that 5 or 6 volunteers would post a "substantive" piece of 250-300 words to which the FB memb...ers could respond. Post would be related to such things as "insights from this book for- Preaching OT texts" "...for pastoral care" "....for understandig scripture", "... for my understanding of God"; Maybe we could start this on Dec. 1 and get more ideas between now and then. Anyone interested?Read More

Hey, that is what i want. Some ideas of how to proceed. We can do it chapt by chapt. or by themes or whatever works best. I suugest we give folks time to buy the book and read it. So Dec 1 seems a good time to start. We could recruit folks to "lead" a chapter at a atime. That would take about 7 weeks. Or we could group the chapters .Folks keep the ideas coming.
