is your baby a newborn?? or maybe a little small for size medium?? That's the only time the cloth got dirty with poo... As for just wet...sometimes if my boy pees a lot...it will leak and make the cloth wet too... I just wash it. But it shouldn't happen everytime.

If your husband is anything like mine, he will jump on board for the savings alone! We use cheapo gerber prefolds with the gpants, and in the three weeks we have been using them, we have saved ~$60 not buying disposibles. Plus, they are so easy to use, even the most cloth diaper unfriendly daddy can figure them out!

Caroline

Caroline So we bought a starter pack, and used Gerber prefolds inside... They worked amazingly, unfortunately, my LO didn't like them. The snaps on the front of the liner would dig into her legs, and made red marks.... Not sure what else I can do, I want to keep using them cause they are so darn cute, and I spent a lot of money on these... Any tips and advice?!

I've been using the disposable for the longest time.... I just got the gCloth... I asked my friend to buy me a pack...and he bought me two!! :)
I just used them...and they are perfect!!! I highly recomend you getting them.

They actually get better the more you wash them...which doesn't happen with flannel blankets.
defentally get them :)

I made my own cloth inserts using cotton with cheesecloth inside (to absorb) and they work great. Just make sure you sew with a cotton thread too ... I used a disposable liner as a guideline for the size. Saved me a ton as I agree - the gCloths are very expensive (and I'm in Canada and the shipping was rediculous!).

Not long, you can also use plain gerber diapers folded long for girls and short for boys. Gdiapers rock the hardest.

Ranae, Are you talking about the Gerber prefolds...I bought a pack of those so I have 12. What do you mean folded short for boys????

Evan, boys tend to pee towards the front and girls to the back. I use gerber prefolds with my son in gdiapers. The prefolds are too long to fit in the liners, so I fold them over so I get double coverage in the front. If you had a girl, you would want the double coverage in the back. I have never had a problem with leaks.

Evan Manskey

Evan Manskey Can I get some advice on how to get started? I'm due 12-31 with my first baby and really want to use gdiapers. All that I've purchased is the starter pack and some indian cloth prefolds from cotton babies. I'm interested in gcloth, but wanted to wait to invest in that (b/c it's pricey) when my child is in the medium.../large since they are in that size so long compared to the small size. Isn't it true that they are only in a small for a few months usually? I was hoping to just use prefolds and liners until then, and then really get into investing in the cloth gdiaper inserts.

Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Also, what is a good number of pants/liners to buy in small?

Thanks so much!

I use bumgenius and gdiapers. I love them both. And I love that I can use the bumgenius OS inserts in my daughters gdiaper from small to large. Works great! You can get a six pack of them at diapers.com for like 18 bucks.

My baby was born 6 lbs and 13oz and 19.5 inches long...it took until she was about 10 lbs until the g's fit bc she's really lean! So make sure you have enough nb size...she is 3.5 months now and I'm pretty sure the g's are gonna fit until 6 months atleast! I have a lot of room on the Velcro still. So the smalls will last and I have 9 gpants and 12 ... See Moreliners and I do laundry every three to four days depending if she has runny poop or not...lol. Once it's more solid you use way less gpants and liners bc the poop won't get on the liners! I am so happy we are at that stage! Lol. And one case of smalls refill lasts about four weeks. So I get a case a month usually and if I run out before it comes I grab a pack at whole foods...hope this helps!!! Good luck and congrats!

my son is 11 months...and he has never once had diaper rash!!! all because of the gdiapers!
They have so many different colors... So I show them off to everyone. We take lots of pictures...and they look so great to see cute colors...instead of the size number and a name brand printed on the front of your child.

They are so easy to use... adorable... great for the planet... but more important to me... great for your baby!
Take a look at the pictures everyone has uploaded of their babies... they're just the cutest.... See More

And we compost our wet ones (instead of flushing)... We put the wet ones in a bucket outside our door...then once a week bring it into the woods. The inserts are gone within 150 days...and it helps break down all our other compost in the pile.
Defentally talk to her about it. She might love them.
