After i was induced with my first baby, i was so doped up on pethadine that, when she was born, they had to yell repeatedly at me to open my eyes! i felt so out of it, and didn't even feel ready to hold her for ages. A bit sad in retrospect, but we were both healthy!

And just relying on immediate b/f to deliver the placenta instead of drugs... it's how it was supposed to happen!
But we got lucky i guess!

Thanks for this. Birth in the US is a joke. OBs and medwives have somehow degraded it down to a medicalized procedure, which leaves moms detached from their babies, and produces generations of detached humans. When birth is allowed to happen with no interventions at all, it is then able to be what God meant it to be.
