Matt Preston is really flogging that horse.

Since he mentioned the Sex Pistols in that article, he should keep in mind the name of one of their albums, "Flogging A Dead Horse".

Gossip Food Sued critic Matthew Evans says most Australian restaurants serve 'crap' food - http://bit.ly/bmqne

A FOOD critic being sued for defamation over a bad review says most restaurants in Australia serve "crap" food.

I hope Evans wins. It'll be a sad day if somone cannot express their opinion on something. If a restaurant fails, it won't be due to the opinions of a single restaurant critic. Two examples. Firstly, there's Ondine that was run by Donovan Cooke and his then wife Phillipa. It got glowing reviews, and closed. The second example would be Tender ... See MoreTrap in Templestowe (may as well add the Lobster Cave in Beaumaris). These places got scathing reviews from John Lethlean, but both places are still thriving.

I am on the customer's side. With comments like 'I'm 57 and I am over customers that don't understand what we do' .. He really does seem like an arrogant brat. Rockpool Melbourne is nice but I rather spend my money somewhere else where the chef/owner would actually appreciate it.

I'm on Neil Perry's side with this one. Apart from my view that people should eat fish with bones in them, what the hell was she thinking about ordering a fish like whiting and then asking for it to be deboned? Order something else. And a tart that's a little bit burnt on a couple of corners....FFS.

Also, Arjun Ramachandran left out a few ... See Morebits of information on the "snappy exchange" between Perry and Ed Charles on twitter. I followed it on twitter, it was barely half a dozen tweets between the two of them, and it ended up in good humour with Perry saying that he was looking forward to seeing Charles in Sydney.

Oh, and "I am over customers that don't understand what we do".....it's an old line. Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsay, Shannon Bennett, etc. - they've all uttered these sorts of views at one time or another.

There are musicians, writers, artists, and sports people who are not nice people. But if I judged them on their attitudes rather than what... See More they produce for me to enjoy, then I'd miss out on a lot of things that have given me joy in life. All I care about is Neil Perry's chefs, cooking something that justifies the money I'd pay for it. If he does that, then he's done his job.
