The Lazy Baker makes baking cookies a snap. Their gourmet cookie baking mixes are so easy to use that anyone can be a gourmet baker in just minutes! You may remember that we baked up a batch of their Brown Sugar Pecan Shortbread Cookies with fantastic results, and we recently whipped up batches of their delectable Double Chocolate Chip Cookies and delicious Chocolate chip Cookies. This month, we sampled their Gingerbread Cookies and they were a holiday hit!
The cookie mix is packed in a tall cylinder bearing the Lazy Baker logo. It definitely has a high-end look and feel to it, and it would make a great gift for anyone who loves to bake or just loves great cookies. The Gingerbread Cookie Mix container is specially colored, with red and green graphics and a little red Santa hat on the Lazy Baker mascot. The various ingredients are neatly packaged inside the cylinder in their own individual bags, keeping everything nice and neat (and organized).
The preparation was much simpler than the usual gingerbread methods. We just added molasses, egg, vanilla, and butter and mixed them according to the instructions.

The gingerbread man cookies puffed up nice and fat in the over. We let them cool for a bit before decorating them with the included tube of white icing. The cookies were chewy and rich, with crispy edges that provided a nice textural contrast. The Basket Lady is a creator of special gourmet gift baskets and boxes. Their aim is to make the next gift you give a memorable and special one. Hayes Coffee is a roaster and producer of fine gourmet coffees, Irish oats, gourmet granola, and other products. We recently sampled their Gourmet Cashew Granola, and were all big fans of its crunch, flavor, and nearly endless applications.
The Cashew Granola arrived in a large 14 oz bag. The big chunks and halves of roasted cashews stand out in the mix and provide a crunchy, toasty nuttiness that stands up to any yogurt, milk, or ice cream thrown at it. We also noticed little pieces of dried red raspberries, which added a slight edge of sweet and tart flavor.
Hayes Coffee ups the healthiness factor of their granola by adding oat bran, sweetening with honey and fruit juice, and by leaving out any ingredients with cholesterol… this cholesterol-free gourmet granola treat is easy on your heart and tasty on your tongue.
We sampled the granola in four different ways. First, we added a handful to a container of yogurt. The crunch and hearty flavor of the granola provided an undeniably delicious facet to a normally passé snack. Next, we topped some vanilla bean ice cream with granola and a bit of chocolate sauce. The granola held up well to the ice cream, and provided almost an “ice cream cone in-a-bowl” type of dessert experience. Third, we ate the granola as a breakfast cereal with milk. This yielded a very filling meal suitable for any morning. Lastly, we tried the gourmet granola “straight-up”, eating it out-of-hand. The opposing textures of crunchy cashews and soft oat clusters really shined through here, making this gourmet granola a simple snack that is big on flavor and mouth-feel.
