Great Comfort Records Salvation Is Created - Out today on Great Comfort Records! Read about it here!

Source: ping.fm
Salvation Is Created is a modern-day oratorio that seeks to present the Christmas story stripped of sentimentality in the hopes of revealing afresh the mystery and strangeness of Christmas as it initially emerged. ...

Benjamin Parviz Looking forward to "Salvation is Created." That is a pretty awesome piece by Tcheshnokov. I'll be interested to see what you all do with it. I always enjoy the things that come out of your camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJSbw8Ea2Os
though I do like the arrangement for wind ensemble.

Billy: I too had some challenges as a kid. I had bright red hair and some of the kids liked calling me a red-headed woodpecker. I often took issue with that! It does remind me of the amazing red-throated hummingbird. It weighs the same as a copper penny, yet, on occasion, will attack an eagle with its sword-like b...eak, if the eagle gets too close to the hummer's nest. "Reds" can fly, non-stop, the 500 mile trip from Texas to Mexico across the gulf. To prepare for the trip, "Reds" will hybernate at night to preserve energy and eat all day. "Reds" can not only fly backwards, but also up-side down! All this consumes calories like my dad used to consume beer! If a man were a hummer, he would have to eat 300 lbs of pizzas a day. My kids could do it!
Who was it that thought of the red-throated hummingbird? Love to meet him! He must be a genius!

Lenny Smith My God, is there anything as lovely at The Welcome Wagon? I've become possessed by something strange and mysterious just from listening!

Look, here is how it works. That ego that keeps incessantly craving for one thing after another will never be satisfied. Never! It's a bottomless pit. You can throw a trunkload of stuff into it and within one to two minutes it starts crying and begging for more of something. The only thing you can do with the ego ...is put the pain on it...make it hurt like hell....say "no" to it and watch it wither away like the green witch in Alice In Wonderland. When it raises it's ugly head again, take only 2 pieces of pizza. Take only one pile of chips. Who needs all that cane in their coffee? Say "no" to that thing! It's not you! All this is for you, Bob! Now don't bother me again! I'm just saying "no" to you! :)Read More

I just can't believe the way we live on the East Coast! STOP! Stop and smell the roses on your way to fame and fortune! I just found-out that immediately after we die, we meet our Maker and He asks only one question: How did you like my roses and how much time did you spend enjoying their aroma? I know a guy who w...orked very hard and saved over 2 million dollars. He never could get himself to spend any of it because he was a saver. Well, he died and left it all behind. He left here with nothing. Please, somebody take a canoe trip or a long overnight hike or a long weekend in Paris! Tell your boss you will NOT work overtime. Go for lunch and don't come back. Buy a scooter and go out to Lancaster County. We are working ourselves to death.Read More

There was a prince who found himself in a desert far from his planet. He found that he missed a very dear friend, who happened to be a rose. This prince might have suggested that our modern work ethic is a little too "grown up" and entirely missing the Child-like kingdom that the true Prince has invited us to be apart of. Lord, may we learn to love the roses in our life and not just the ones without thorns. :)

Josh Wright Lenny, I think I met you in one of the record store tents at the Cornerstone festival about fifteen years ago. Do you guys have any interest in poets at the present moment?

Josh: I love poetry! Any songwriter who does not read and love poetry is playing a guitar with one string. How can I read some of your poetry?

Lenny Smith Today, on www.greatcomfortrecords.com, you can read about and order our first release ever: Bifrost Arts' "Come, O Spirit." I want to say that I have waited my whole life for this, but I just can't. It's not true. But, I AM excited and hopeful!

Something strange HAS been happening to me for a while now. I seem to be falling in love with the world, at least the earth part of it. I saw a whale killed on tv by a Japanese Research ship and it really pained me. Last year in Norway, Marian and I and Elin's parents stayed overnight in an old village at the mouth ...of a beautiful river. Salmon by the many thousands used to swim up that river to lay their eggs, but now only a few hundred make it there from the ocean. I was delighted, however, when I heard the Norwegian gov. is trying to help the salmon. Today I was thinking about when Jesus said, "This is my body." I've heard that WE are now his body. I am wondering if it might extend to the earth itself. Might the earth be the Body Of God? Might the whole earth be filled with His Spirit? I saw three fauns playing in a field yesterday. I wonder where their mothers were? Nearby, I'll bet. When I die, I want to go here.Read More
