Don't ban Irish on Aer Lingus

Basic Info

Description:
Aer Lingus have instructed their crew to stop using the Irish Language during in-flight announcements on all Belfast routes.

This group is a message to them that this is not acceptable.

We want them to realise that in attempting to eliminate Irish, they are offending far more people than they ever could by simply speaking it.

Can you imagine Air France not allowing their crew to speak French? Could you see Lufthansa banning German?

Aer Lingus is an Irish airline, and the name itself comes from the Irish words for air fleet!

Help save Irish on Aer Lingus flights - join us now, and invite your friends.

Aer Lingus, please regain some common sense and reverse this ridiculous decision!

As an Irish person living in Manchester, UK, this is a most important issue - it is most important that, as a matter of national pride, for Aer Lingus Cabin Crew to be permitted to speak the Irish Language on board all Aer Lingus aircraft - to suggest that this may offend certain people is political correctness gone mad and is therefore nonsense, because the same argument could be used to not use the Shamrock or not name Aer Lingus Aircraft after Irish Saints, or have the Annual Blessing of the Fleet at Dublin Airport in a (Roman Catholic) Religious Ceremony by the Airport Parish Priest - all of these are part and parcel of the proud traditions of Aer Lingus for over 70 years, go to the very heart of the airline's corporate identity and of Irish national identity and of Irish pride itself, especially when Aer Lingus and Ireland is being represented at international level - Aer Lingus is Ireland's national airline, carrying the Shamrock with pride and long may it remain so!!!

Hopefully, Aer Lingus will be brought to it's senses when Michael O'Leary becomes Chairman of the Board!

Why???? should we have our language banned, I do not live there but I return each year it makes me feel that I have come home when we are landing, I feel proud when I hear it been spoken, when we travel to other countries we accept that they have their language and not asking for theirs to be banned!!!
