VOX is the Latin word for "voice." The vox populi is "the voice of the people."

Voices For Planned Parenthood is a program that educates young Americans about the threats to reproductive health and rights and mobilizes them in support of reproductive freedom.

VOX is part of the Planned Parenthood Responsible Choices Action Agenda, a proactive advocacy and service initiative to expand and secure reproductive rights into the next century.

In other words, we're a bunch of totally cool students who hang out, have fun and help protect a woman's right to healthcare.

Hey Guys,

There is something that happened today that I think you should all be aware of.

As many of hopefully know, VOX held an event in the concourse today. We were educating the students on the skyrocketing price of birth control in low income clinics, and university health centers across the country. We were also encouraging students to sign petition cards calling for congressional action, and to place phone calls to Senator Herb Kohl and Congressman David Obey.

When we started making calls this morning though, we were shocked to find that David Obey's office refused to take messages from callers outside of his district. However, David Obey is the CHAIRMAN of the committee that is handling the bill that would restore the price of birth control. This is his issue and we are his consitutents, but we were denied to ability to share our opinion.

We were outraged, but we turned that anger into action. Today were were able to collect over 200 petition cards and place almost 50 phone calls to Senator Herb Kohl.

I am telling you guys this so that you can make your voice heard as well. If you are as shocked as I am by the actions of David Obey's office, I encourage you to write a letter to him and say exactly that.

Now is your opportunity to prove that you will work to make change. So just do it already!
