- The Buffalo Public Interest Law Program is a private, not-for-profit corporation founded in 1979 by law students at the State University of New York at Buffalo. BPILP is dedicated to promoting the practice of public interest law by providing summer fellowships to students who want to work for agencies serving those most under-represented and underprivileged in our communities. In the past BPILP has provided valuable placement opportunities in areas of law including domestic violence, human rights, child welfare, housing, disability, homelessness, the elderly, and unemployment.
In addition to providing fellowships BPILP is involved in many outreach activities including; the Legal Aid Bureau's City Court Arraignment Project, Legal Aid's Re-Entry Project, Lawyers for Learning/BPILP collaboration and a January networking event.
