Dear MWSE Facebook Member:

Last week, we concluded our “Station Information Meetings” with phenomenal attendance. 490 of you showed up to learn about locating stations and their entrances and give us your input. We are now busy reviewing, compiling and summarizing that input and incorporating it into our continuing work on the Draft EIS/EIR for the subway.

Subway in the news: Earlier today, we posted a story in the Daily Bruin about our Station Information Meeting in Westwood and last week we posted a story about the meeting we held in Santa Monica. In the last few weeks, there has been a fair amount of coverage about the adoption by the Metro Board of Directors of Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and their reaffirmation that the Westside Subway Extension and the Regional Connector are the two projects for which we will seek federal New Starts funding. There has also been coverage of Mayor Villaraigosa’s announcement of his goal to speed up implementation of all the Measure R projects.

We’ll keep posting stories as we find them but you should feel free to post them as well.

Our next set of community meetings will be in early 2010 when we’ll report back on what we heard at the Station Information meetings as well as our continuing analysis of the subway.

Please keep inviting your friends to join our group. Also, keep sending in your comments and questions about the Westside Subway Extension. Remember, what you post here on Facebook becomes part of the record. You can also go to the website to send us your thoughts. As always, thanks for all the interest in the Metro Westside Subway Extension and support for our Facebook group.
