The beautiful, graceful, affectionate Galgo Español is one of the most ancient of the sighthound dogs.
They have a long history in Spain - as wonderfully talented racing dogs and hare-hunters.
But every year, an estimated 100,000 of these gentle animals are exterminated in the most horrific ways imaginable - tossed out of moving cars, strung up with piano wire or simply beaten to death.
The abuse is institutionalised across Spain. As the hunting or racing season ends, the year's dogs are declared 'expendable' and disposed of in a manner so inhumane, most Europeans can hardly believe such animal cruelty exists within the European Union.
Burnt alive. Strung up and left to starve. Shot to save the expense of another year's dog food and keep - or beaten to death to save the cost of a bullet.
PLEASE. If you care about animals, join this group and help save the Spanish Greyhound. You can make a difference - by writing to the Spanish Government to force them to outlaw this animal cruelty, or adopting a rescued Galgo dog and giving them the home and love they so richly deserve.
In the 21st century, such animal cruelty is simply unacceptable. Let's join together and make sure the Spanish government realise that.
