Harrisburg was a disaster after Agnes struck in the 1970's.
The city had plenty of part-time mayors, but nobody stepped up to the plate quite like
STEPHEN R. REED
Mayor Reed was first elected by the people of Harrisburg in 1981. Devoting his full strength and energy to the task of re-vitalizing the community, Mayor Reed has since remade Harrisburg as a more than respectable bustling city on the rise.
While Linda Thompson misspoke about "cesspools of talent" and Nevin Mindlin hid in the woods, Mayor Reed acted and reformed the Harrisburg School System. While Linda Thompson was busy making the rounds on cable-TV spouting sound-bytes of little-to-no substance, Mayor Reed worked to more effectively fight crime and guide Harrisburg through our nation's difficult economic strain. All the while, Nevin Mindlin was nowhere to be found.
So how can we let Thompson or Mindlin get away with destroying the great progress Mayor Reed has cultivated? How can we let either of them interrupt designs decades in the making?
If you want a full-time mayor,
If you want a mayor who values substance over sound-bytes,
If you want a mayor who has the experience and wherewithal to fight for better education and less crime,
YOU WANT MAYOR REED!
Linda Thompson and Nevin Mindlin may have won the primary - but this race is far from over. We must remind our friends and fellow citizens that Thompson is a candidate of repugnant character, and the unknown Mindlin will try to leverage city debt by cutting funding to the arts - he may even sell City Island, a treasure he regards as a mere asset.
We present Mayor Reed as a write-in candidate on a platform of public service, not divisive politics.
Change can be a beautiful thing - but in Harrisburg, it can be the ruin of the city. Do your part: knock on doors, make phone calls, even talking to your friends about it can help. GET OUT THE VOTE! WRITE-IN REED!
