C.A.D.E.R.S stands for Casuals And Devotees (of) Everything Retro Society. It 'Caders is also short for Arcaders or fans of games you would find in arcades. A large number of digitally distributed titles would fit into the categories of games CADERS covers.
Casual games include everything from games by Popcap (Bejeweled to Peggle) to board (and card) games to Minesweeper and Flash games and games on iPhones. These games are said to be more "relaxed" (or casual) but a number of casual games in the "skills" category can be very demanding on players. The name is mostly used to differentiate these games from games considered appealing to "hardcore" videogame players, and games like Halo, which are noted for their edginess and violence.
Retro games include home and console games, normally sprite based (and cartridges for home), but can also include pinball machines, and electro-mechanical games. These games would be considered part of the "arcade" era of videogames, and would go up to about the time period of the Neo-Geo in the arcade. These games have play mechanics not seen as frequently today.
Neo-Retro games are either remakes of classics games with updated graphics (like Street Fighter 4) or new games like Geometry Wars, Super Stardust or Castle Crashers which play like old games. If the arcade era continued, these games would be considered new entries into them.
Any game that isn't considered "Hardcore", or is retro, has a home here. So, if you are into these things, come on board. (read less)This group is for individuals interestedin casual, retro, and neo-retro games. You can see the full member site for C.A.D.E.R.S here: http://www.caders.com .
