News:
MANSFIELD teacher Peter Harvey appeared before Nottingham Crown Court this afternoon charged with the attempted murder of an All Saints' school pupil.
Fourteen-year-old Jack Waterhouse was attacked during a physics lesson at the Broomhill Lane school on 8th July and suffered a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain.

The teenager, of Worksop, is expected to make a full recovery.

Harvey (49), of Rannoch Drive, had been due to appear by video link but appeared in person at 2pm on Monday and spoke only to confirm his name.

The public gallery at the court room was full with many of Harvey's friends and former pupils turning up to show their support for him.

Judge Michael Stokes QC said he understood Harvey had been teaching at the school for 16 years.

The case was adjourned to the week beginning 28th September and Harvey was remanded in custody.
