Support for Mr Peter Harvey - Science Teacher at All Saints RC Comp in Mansfield Nottinghamshire.

Mr Peter Harvey has allegedly assaulted 3 pupils during his science lesson at All Saints RC. However, to most of his pupils he is remembered as a caring, funny teacher who was passionate about his subject, affectionately known as the nutty professor.

While this group is not condoning the actions of Mr Harvey, and wish the pupils involved a speedy recovery, it is worth noting that Mr Harvey has been a dedicated teacher and servant at All Saints since the early 1990's. He has also recently been on sick leave with a stress related disorder. While this is obviously a mitigating factor, again let me stress that his actions are not to be condoned.

Having worked in the education sector, I am aware of the enourmous amounts of stress that teachers can be under with some unruly children in the classroom. While, I am not suggesting that this was the case here, I was once a child and do remember provoking some teachers to see how far they would go. I am not proud of this. However every person has there breaking point and Mr Harvey obviously has had his.

However, this group is to show support for Mr Harvey, the physics teacher who was a bloody good teacher! While there will be many who think he deserves all he gets and dont want to show him any support or compassion whatsoever, I understand perfectly! (read less)
