The following is a link to the Disorientation Guide --- a guide prepared by alums for incoming students and hampshire students/staff/faculty generally. In this Zine, you will find a timeline of history as related to underepresented students on campus. If you take a look at the history of Race & Ethnicity on campus, you'll see that the demands being made are not new-- they have been made through Hampshire's history, and it is important that we let administration know we have not forgotten this history and that despite being a transient community, we will continue bringing the same demands to the table until they are taken seriously. Take a look:

Western Massachusetts Press Today:
Hampshire College students stage walkout

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Students at Hampshire College have staged a walkout to protest what they say is the administration's inaction to fighting racism and improving diversity on campus.

The walkout began at 11 a.m. on Monday after talks between student activists and administrators including President Ralph Hexter failed to yield an agreement on students' demands.

Romina Ruiz, a spokeswoman for a student activist coalition, says 345 students left classes and were demonstrating in front of the president's office.

Nancy Kelly, a presidential adviser at the private liberal arts school in Amherst, declined to comment on how many of the school's 1,350 students walked out. Campus administrators say they're open to further talks with activists.

Ruiz says the walkout's duration is indefinite.
