Sorry for the lack of updates on this website. Facebook has been blocked in China for a number of months now and makes accessing it difficult now.
Please continue to spread the word of Chinese exhibitions around the world.

News and Updates

I don’t know about you but I’ve read one too many articles about the “China Bubble Bursting”. The simple truth of it is that the art world in general is taking a huge knock and it is not limited to one particular country. China has been in the spot light for the last few years because of the meteoric rise in price and number of galleries. So yes some of the points in the articles are very just and honest but talking to fellow gallerists’ around the world the same rules apply. The good news is that the art market hasn’t been hit as hard as the other sectors of society; the majority of the galleries fully understands the situation and continues to hold interesting and exciting shows. Obviously lesser galleries and artists will fall by the wayside but at least the quality will get better.

I personally have spent the last month visiting artists in Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Tokyo, I had such a great time visiting the artists and looking at their new works, I feel that the artists feel less pressure from the market now and are relaxing and experimenting with new styles, hopefully this can be a period of creativity!

Good news from Los Angeles in recent weeks with the fact that The Getty Museum acquired many significant works by Chinese Contemporary Photographers.

Forthcoming Art Fairs

CIGE Beijing 16-19th April
Art Beijing 26-30th April
Art HK 14-17th May

Big Thank you to Robert Adanto for screening his film “The Rising Tide” in my gallery this week, we had a great turn out and everybody found it extremely informative.

Please look out in the next day or two for invites to new shows in Beijing and Shanghai from Andrew James Art, I hope we can meet up at the openings. I will also be traveling to HK in May for the art fair so if you are around and would like to meet, it would be great to view the fair and galleries together. The Rising Tide will also be screened in HK on the 14th May with the Art Asia Archive.

Hope everybody is well.
