Key Aspects of the AAMS Club:
As a club, we regularly have guest speakers attend to give presentations on a wide range of topics, including Medical School admissions (including the Thomas Haider Program), internship and research opportunities, academic guidance, volunteering, and information on a variety of topics regarding the medical field. We also plan on having a number of professionals who work in the health careers to speak to us, including Medical Students, Doctors, Pharmacists, and more.
One very unique aspect of our club is that we weekly Journal Watches. This is when a club officer or memeber brings a choice of an article relating to medicine in current news. We read it as a group, then discuss it in an open forum style, with a few guided questions to get the ball rolling. This is a wonderful way for those planning on applying to Medical School to prepare for the interview, in which interviewers will ask questions regarding topics on medicine in the current news!
