The Public Education Office at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center needs your help educating kids about the dangers of tobacco! We also invite community leaders and educators in the Houston area to request our puppet show come to you.
Too Cool to Smoke: with The Kids on the Block puts on almost 160 tobacco awareness programs each year using life-sized puppets. The show's two main characters, JoAnn and Eric, bump into each other in the food court at their local mall, and talk to each other about resisting peer pressure and staying tobacco free.
The show is desgined for kids from kindergarten to fourth grade, and is put on with the help of two volunteer puppeteers (see our recent news- you can get volunteer hours or $50 a performance if you choose to help).
The show is colorful, lively and fun to keep kids engaged and aware of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The show not only needs volunteers (or members of its facebook group to spread the word), but also is free and available to the Houston community.
