Tim DaSilva BMX is asking for emails and letter of support stating that the track is a viable facility, and much needed for the youth of Halton Hills and South Western Ontario.

The family of Tim DaSilva and other supporters headed up to Tobermory on Thursday May 15th to deliver a presentation to the Niagara Escarpment Commission with the hope of receiving a deferment of the restoration order or ultimately for the order to be reconsidered.

The NEC passed a motion that added 30 days to the existing 60 days on the restoration order (bringing it to a total of 90 days). At this time we are awaiting the confirmation of the official start date of the order. During this time the landowner and the Tim DaSilva BMX Track will be meeting with the Town of Halton Hills and hopes to meet with Regional Government to garner their support of this outstanding recreational facility and submit a Niagara Escarpment Plan Amendment.

Prior to this meeting, the Mayor of Halton Hills, Rick Bonette, had forwarded a letter to the Commission respectfully requesting a deferral on the Tim DaSilva BMX Track restoration order until the next NEC meeting that would take place in Georgetown on June 19.

At 4pm on Wednesday May 14th, an NEC representative responded to this request and denied it stating ‘that no deferment would be considered until they have heard from all the delegations in relation to this matter.’ While the Mayor and the Tim DaSilva BMX track delegation were hoping that the deferral would be granted, they were not expecting it to be, so plans were already in place to attend the meeting in Tobermory.

On Wednesday the Tim DaSilva BMX delegation was also advised that 5 neighbours were attending this meeting that the NEC had added an additional 30 minutes to the agenda for this item.

Mayor Rick Bonette, the Council of the Town of Halton Hills, and the
BMX community are very supportive of Tim DaSilva BMX, as it adds to their existing sports infrastructure and provides a unique facility for the community of Halton Hills.

Community support is needed in order for the NEC to consider the Niagara Escarpment Plan Amendment.

The Tim DaSilva BMX Track executive is in the process of organizing a public event that will take place in June. Final date and location are currently being determined, please keep an eye on www.timdasilvabmx.com for update!!!
