Hitlers airport hosts Woodstock anniversary:
Adolf Hitler's favourite airport is to host a tribute show to mark the 40th anniversary of peace and love festival Woodstock.
Berlin's Tempelhof airport will stage a Live Aid-style satellite link-up with the US concert for the flower power tribute in August with bands Santana, Joe Cocker, The Who, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Grateful Dead and Joan Baez .
But the show's location has hit a sour note with some music fans.
"This airport was one of the Nazis' strongholds," said one. "There's not much peace and love to be found there."

Feb. 2 / 09 - A message from Leo Lyons (Ten Yers After)
Hi everyone I'm Leo Lyons from Ten Years After. I was lucky to have played at the 1969 Woodstock festival and even more fortunate to be still gigging in 2009.
Here's hoping that the spirit of peace and love we all wished for in 1969 will be realized in 2009.
Best wishes to you all.
Kind regards Leo
Jan. 30 / 09 - A message from CHIP MONCK (Woodstock MC and lighting director) to Our Group.
"Remember the Brown Acid Warning and all those announcements from the stage?"
From Chip:
Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome back, or welcome for the first time Unfortunately, or fortunately, there is no more Brown Acid (variable point of view) So that's a warning we needn't repeat. Everyone has a cell phone,so I needn't help Harry find Mary, just worry how to keep you charged up for ? days
Just be as successfully selective,as you were when you chose Mr Obama to lead us out of the shit we now stand in, Iif you decide to take a side trip, involving a drug of dubious origin, be cautious, you might miss some good music, or miss it all..
While on Obama, please realize that each and everyone of us have a duty, as we did in 1969, to support our chosen leader(s) and, new and olde friends, the spaced out and the lost, to assist each other, as we traverse this field of mud.
If each of you do not take on this responsibility, we, as a Nation, won't make it.. Last Chance, Mate...!
OK you know your job...you did it 40 years ago without hesitation, only difference it starts now, not on August 15th.
We know we can do it, we did it before, just rise to the occasion, we just did it 'cause it felt right.
And still is...
Enjoy our 40th Celebration, have a grand time, however you celebrate it, Be fun to be with you, but I have multiple callings .
Michael Lang's Book will soon come out, overshadowed by the Littleproud issue, of course, The Warner Brothers Digital Re-Mix with another hour and a half of visuals, us doing some talking, all sorts of stuff. It's gonna be a busy year.
I hope it is filled with joy
Most Sincerely,
Chipmonck
Jan. 17 / 09 Woodstock reloaded in NY and Berlin
Chief Woodstock promoter Michael Lang is planning two free Woodstock concerts in Berlin, Germany and in New York in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original 1969 festival. According to the press release, the New York show still doesn't have a venue, but will take place on the actual 40th anniversary of August 15th and 16th. The Berlin show will take place at the now-closed Tempelhof Airport on August 22nd and August 23rd.
Lang and his partners are hoping to snag some of the original participants that performed at Yasgur's Farm back in '69, including Santana, the Who, Joan Baez, Joe Cocker, Grateful Dead, Country Joe and the Fish, as well as current top acts.
Although the Who stayed away from the 1994 and 1999 Woodstock events, Pete Townshend was on hand for the festival's 29th anniversary show in 1998, which was the only one to actually take place in Bethel, New York on Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York. John Entwistle appeared at Woodstock '99 and performed a solo set on one of the festival's smaller stages.
Townshend still regards the Who's 1969 Woodstock as a watershed event in the Who's live career "It was about the most important single concert that we ever did. It was more important than Monterey, much more important than our first show in New York, much more important than anything that followed."
A new website, woodstock.com, is currently being developed for information on the shows.
