- MLSpulse™ is commonly referred to as a VOW or Virtual Office Website but also includes IDX or Internet Data Exchange options as well. Unlike other VOW and IDX programs, MLSpulse™ provides consumers with a variety of tools to make their online home shopping experience easy and enjoyable while keeping them in constant contact with their Realtor®.
Since 2002, MLSpulse™ has been the preferred online home shopping destination of consumers in the MLS areas it covers.
Starting late summer of 2009, MLSpulse™ will be undergoing some significant and very exciting changes for both consumers and Realtors™ thanks to the National Association of Realtors VOW policy changes and the award winning Social Networking development from Xtensible Technology’s MondoPulse™ product.
National Association of Realtors VOW Policy Changes - On September 8th 2005, the DOJ brought suit against the National Association of Realtors.
From http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/public/press_releases/2005/211008.htm
“According to the Department's complaint, brokers who participated in the NAR work group that formulated the VOW policy recognized that the opt-out right would be "abused beyond belief." The chairman of the working group admitted that the opt out right was likely to be exercised by brokers despite the fact that "it may not be in the sellers' best interest to opt out," the Department said in its filing.
NAR's policy denies brokers using new technologies and business models the same benefits of MLS membership available to their competitor brokers, suppresses innovation, discourages competition on price and quality, and prevents new, efficient competitors from entering into the marketplace — all to the detriment of consumers.”
Based on the DOJ action, the NAR tabled all guidance on VOW and proposed ILD (Internet Listing Display) sites and suggested MLS organizations only allow IDX (Internet Data eXchange) sites to be permitted. This caused existing VOW brokerages and Xtensible Technology, as well as most other real estate technology vendors, to stop expansion plans.
On Nov.18 2008, the U.S. Federal District Court Judge, Matthew F. Kennelly, gave final approval to the settlement over the display of MLS listings on VOWs. Important changes to the National Association of Realtors®’ MLS policies and rules require all (over 800) MLS organizations to act no later than February 15, 2009 and do not allow MLS organizations to modify the new policy.
With the newly adopted, unified VOW policy, Xtensible Technology can continue MLSpulse™ expansion plans along with implementing Social Networking features from our award winning MondoPulse™ product.
MondoPulse™ utilizes technology framework found in MLSpulse™ and builds on that framework to provide Social Networking features for a wide array of businesses interested in staying connected to prospects and clients.
MondoPulse™ was granted two awards shortly after being released:
• “Innovation Rocks” award in 2007 by the State of New Hampshire Business Resource Center. In October of 2008. This award is presented to New Hampshire companies that apply technology to solve business problems in an innovative manner.
• “MVP Award” presented by the Software Association of New Hampshire (www.swanh.org). The SwANH MVP award is given annually to a New Hampshire-based software company based on a number of factors including: growth in revenues, employees, and products; technology “innovation” factors and solving old problems in new ways; and being a good corporate citizen to New Hampshire.
In August of 2009, Xtensible Technology made a strategic decision to discontinue marketing MondoPulse™ and begin merging the Social Networking features found in MondoPulse™ with MLSpulse™.
The first product change will be occurring with MLSpulse.com and will provide a powerful exclusive marketing opportunity for Realtors® using MLSpulse or other online home search tools…..
