Mural Competition

Date: 10/12/09 - 10/28/09

Details: The mural must model the vision of Campus Activities Board.
When ideas are submitted, their artwork will be displayed on the CAB/NIU website so the students can be recognized for their talents. The artist chosen will paint their mural in the CAB conference room. They are given a $400 dollar budget to work with. The artist is given the real world experience of learning how to paint under a deadline and budget. Once the mural is complete the artist will receive an award and will be able to keep their supplies provided by CAB.

Those interested will be able to submit their designs between October 12th and October 28th. The winner will be selected by October 30th and the painter will be able to start the first week of November. The mural will be completed by November 23rd.

Food Drive


Date: 10/19-11/02
Location: Throughout Residence Halls

Details: This will be a community service event that committee members and the Associate Vice President of Seasonal Events will be organizing throughout the DeKalb community and for the northern Illinois community. All food will be donated to a nonprofit organization for a Thanksgiving and Christmas time meal.

Feed My Starving Children

Details: We will be packaging food for impoverished families provided by Feed My Starving Children. This is event is part of our effort to support the National Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week.

Film: Trouble the Water

Details: This is a documentary about Hurricane Katrina. This film will portray the victims’ thoughts, feelings and experiences during and after the hurricane.
