Description:
As of June 2008, the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations will no longer fund Continental Youth and Young Adult Leadership. This means both Continental YRUU and Continental UUYAN. Continental YRUU may disband. Continental UUYAN is working towards securing financial independence. We must all come together, Youth and Young Adult, with our Adult Allies, and see what can be done.

* If you want to be an admin of this group, send a message an Admin.
* This is your group. So feel free to amend or edit anything I write in place of something better. In fact, please do. And feel free to contribute all that you can. In fact, please do.
* If you would like to be listed on this group as a District contact, please post on the wall. We want at least one Youth and one Young Adult for each district. All it means is that you're putting your name out there for people to talk to you.

Please see http://uulogy.blogspot.com for more information about the end of YRUU. More information to follow. Please spread the word.

There is also a link to the letter from C*UUYAN Steering Committee announcing their cutoff.

UPDATE: http://yruuinstmem.blogspot.com/ is the YRUU Institutional Memory Project. This is an open blog that will serve as a central repository for the kinds of information we need to build this movement.

What we need is the following:
* Really clever ideas
* Information (anonymized) about violations of safe space on the district and continental level since 2004
* First-hand accounts from youth and adult leaders about the process preceding, during, and after the so-called Consultation on Youth Ministry
* Dedication from current and former Youth, Young Adults, and Adult Allies, standing together to support youth empowerment programming
* Care taken to play appropriate roles in organizing, particularly by non-youth, who should not speak for youth in this process.
* People to step up and take the lead on specific projects, including securing statements from UUA Presidential candidates regarding their views of youth programming
*People, from leadership positions or not, who can speak to specific districts RIGHT NOW. What's working, what isn't. Which ones are failling, which ones aren't. If they are failing, how that happened. Why. Youth, Young Adults, and their Allies. Everyone.
