- As President of the College Democrats, Courtney
believes in progress. Therefore:
TUITION RELIEF
To make sure these measures come to being we need and must have action, not just words. Working with the state’s congress, we will re-regulate tuition, which will lower the cost of tuition by thousands of dollars for you every semester.
Increasing state funding is crucial to ensure that the cost of new buildings does not fall on the backs of students. Courtney and CJ will work with our State Representative Patrick Rose securing public funds in the Legislature to match the $8 million private donation for the Performing Arts Center to further fund our master plan.
Courtney’s relationship with Texas lawmakers will give him the ability to make ideas become action.
MAROON GOLD AND GREEN
We will turn Texas State into the premier green university in the state. Green technology is the way of the future and its important we are the vanguard of this. We will start by changing every light bulb on campus to compact florescent light bulbs to save you money. To plan for America’s future we will begin the process of having alternative energy research as a field of study within the science department.
To improve pride in the school, we will employ art program students to turn the drab walls inside of building into murals of Bobcat pride. Steps like this, along with continuing to ensure a smooth transition to FBS football, a closer relationship with alumni and better funding for your education will ensure your education here will become as valuable as any other out of Texas.
- As City Council Liaison, CJ Morgan continually builds a
relationship with the city of San Marcos. Therefore:
DEVELOPING RELATIONS WITH SAN MARCOS
San Marcos is a great home for Texas State. Through the work of CJ we will continue to foster the relationship between our town and school by working with City Council to improve transportation and parking, and develop more green spaces and bike trails.
24 HOUR CHANGE
Courtney, CJ and their ticket’s senators will bring about the changes that are needed on campus. The library must stay open 24 hours a day. Jones Diner must be open 24 hours a day. The mass communication department needs access to labs beyond the scheduled hours so students can learn to operate sound and video equipment, and we need the most modern equipment possible to master every major. As we grow Texas State as this state’s premier university, your diploma will increase in value and give you the advantage you need to succeed.
We will be an open administration that you can always come to. Any ideas you may have, please contact Courtney and CJ and they will work to bring them to fruition.
