THERE SEEMS TO BE NO END IN SIGHT! NORTHERN LUZON HAS BEEN BATTERED! HELP!!

Typhoon Parma slammed into the Philippines today, killing 160 people so far, ripping off roofs, toppling power pylons and swelling rivers in the country's northern area. This is the second storm in eight days, but the instead of hitting Manila, it went directly to Northern Luzon.

The hardest hit area, now the provinces that were hardest hit have lost everything and more. Many roads were impassable due to floods in the northern provinces, according to the National Disaster Coordinating Council. It said the entire provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Abra and Ifugao have had no power since Saturday, when Parma slammed into the Philippines at full strength with maximum winds of 195kph and gusts of up to 230kph.

There are towns that are underwater as of now.. I didn’t know how bad this would get! This latest calamity 30 thousand people lost their homes, and the people that weren’t so lucky…ended up on their roofs… and even unluckier.. buried under landslides and what not.

Officials said some 5.5bn pesos (£72m) in crops, mostly rice about to be harvested, were damaged by Ketsana last week. The damage to bridges, homes and roads was estimated at 1.6bn pesos + As of now, there are still families stranded on the rooftops of their homes or on top of cars and buses without food and portable water.

Most relief aid is coming from volunteers. As the government is in no state to help the country and the communications lines are down, we are mobilising efforts here in HK as we are the nearest foreign country to the Philippines.

So this group will be a resource. Hopefully, we will be able send much needed supplies and funds to the victims.

Please approach your representatives or me, if you can help or know anyone that wants to help. Also if you see that your school/association does not have a representative and you would like to assume that role please let me know!
