Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, also know as Skulls, has a rich history at West Chester. Established in 1987 we have been dedicated to providing our members with a one of a kind experience. After a recent re-organization in 2005 our brothers have since been re-educated on what it truly means to be a Fraternity Man, a Phi Kap Man. After the reorganization of the chapter The Skulls were left with 4 brothers; today our chapter stands as an untied brotherhood of 40 men who pride themselves on community service, philanthropy, scholarship, and athletics. If you want to get involved, be a part of something bigger than yourself, and get your name out there on campus, RUSH SKULLS!
Phi Kappa Sigma International Fraternity was founded by Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell at the University of Pennsylvania on August 16, 1850. Phi Kappa Sigma International Fraternity has Chapters in both the United States and Canada and currently has over 60 active Chapters, Colonies, and interest groups with over 2,000 active members and 40,000 living alumni.
Phi Kappa Sigma is more than an organization to be a part of during college; it is a valuable learning experience, a life-long commitment, and philosophy of life. Along with the Phi Kappa Sigma Ritual, our Purpose and Principles state who and what we are as a Fraternity and as members of that Fraternity. All members take an oath to uphold these ideals and it is up to all of us to make sure that we, and those who come after us, learn and understand what it is to be a true “Phi Kap” and “Man of Honor” and incorporate that into our Chapters and into our lives. Some brotherhoods let the chapter shape the member; Skulls let the member shape the chapter. We believe each man on this campus is unique and can help take our chapter to greater heights. We want our members to have an immediate impact on our chapter and take the chapter to what they want it to be.
First of all, what the heck is this "rush" thing you keep hearing about? It's just Greek for "check out a fraternity and see if it's for you". Okay, so with the awkward introductions over, now we can get to more important stuff. Dude, come over and meet the guys of Skulls!
People know us...we're kind of a big deal.
We're proud of our reputation for being one of the best fraternities in the West Chester Greek System. Our social schedule is packed and there are always people to hang out with, no matter what day of the week it is. We work hard so that we can play hard, and that means we also take academics very seriously.
We have a wide range of majors in the house, including Business, Nursing, Psychology, Computer Science, Theater, Physics, and tons more, so if you're looking to pledge a brotherhood with guys in the same major as you, there's a good chance you'll fit in well. Erick Grant, our Pi (academic/scholastic chair) is currently organizing an academic filing system with back tests/notes to MANY different classes. This is sure to help with studying and improving grades!
Oh shoot, we used another Greek word. A "pledge" is a someone that rushes, and decides that Skulls is right for him, so you sign our bid card and then start pledging. There's another one...a "bid" is basically just an invitation to join Phi Kappa Sigma, and if you sign it then you're telling us that you have decided that we are the fraternity you want to join.
Anyway, you're invited to come over to our house or our appartments and we'll give you a tour, introduce you to the guys, and hang out.
