Howard University Medical Alumni Association (HUMAA) was organized in 1871 by the first medical class to graduate from Howard University. The association was incorporated as an independent tax exempt organization by members of the Class of 1945.

Over the years, HUMAA has proven to be a great resource to the College of Medicine (HUCM) and the students. The association granted its first scholarship in academic year 1957-58 with an award of $550. In academic year 2007-2008 HUMAA awarded over $100,000 in financial aid to Howard Medical students.
