News:: Bob McDonnell is the GOP candidate for Governor of Virginia. The election is this November 3, 2009.

McDonnell has a record of voting against women. He's voted against better day care, and against equal pay. He even opposes birth control for married couples.

He also has a long history of extreme views. At 34, just before he launched his political career, he wrote a 99-page thesis detiailing his "vision for the family." He details extreme views o nwomen, particularly women in the workforce. Some highlights…

--Characterizing working women as “detrimental to the family” and motivated by “materialistic” concerns. (p39,p40)
--A hostility toward child care, as something that does “moral harm.” (p57)
--A strong objection to the right of married couples to use birth control. (p7)
