The purpose of Break the Silence Congo Week is to raise awareness about the devastating humanitarian situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and mobilize support on behalf of the people of the Congo.
It is an initiative started by Friends of the Congo in order to raise awareness about the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and raise funds to help humanitarian and non-profit organizations with a focus related to issues in the DRC. During Congo Week a series of events ranging from: concerts, peaceful demonstrations, fundraising parties, plays, speaker tours, movie screenings and many more. Congo week provides a way to learn about the Congo, its history, its people and a way to help the less fortunate. Congo Week will take place from Sunday October 18 to Saturday October 24, 2009.
