Bruce Beardmore I want to again sincerely thank everyone who attended last night’s County Council hearing in Annapolis to listen and watch as the Council approved the bill to formally/officially lease land to us. More than usual, the chairwoman and individual council members addressed the fact of how many people were there. In fact, ...they frequently directly addressed the crowd. It did not go unnoticed by the Council that Jennifer Adkins and her family and friends were there with us. We can now start our fundraising in earnest and continue to work with each other in a collaborative process - all addressees, in making this community center and skatepark that citizens and the County Council can be proud of.

LeeAnn What was the result of the vote tonight?

We're looking forward to you and all your friends coming to the Anne Arundel County Council chamgers Monday night at 7:00pm (arrive early to park and enter the building). This is the session where the council members will vote on the lease agreement for the CRCC use of the Crofton Library site.
Here's the address for th...e council chambers for those who have navigation devices:
44 Calvert St
Annapolis, MD 21401-1986
(410) 222-1401
Directions from the Crofton area:
1. Route 50 east toward Annapolis.
2. Take the Route 70 east exit to Rowe Blvd.
3. Follow Rowe Blvd. until you see it veer to the right off of the main street (now called Bladen St.)
4. The first intersection you come to is Calvert St. Turn right onto it.
5. Cross Northwest St. and look for Clay St. on the right. Turn onto Clay St.
6. Almost immediately on the left you will see a parking garage. Enter the garage, take a ticket and park your car.
7. When you leave the garage, go back to Calvert st. and cross to the county building. Go up the steps and enter the building - ask for directions to the council meeting room.
8 . On leaving the meeting, DO NOT FORGET to ask the guard to validate your parking. This is the only garage that will recognize the validation and it will save you from having to pay for parking.

Sid We had a great response from the community for this project so far. We need to keep the momentum going to achieve our goals. Please show you support by showing up to the County Council meeting on Monday Nov 2.

Jamie Gill Your site plan shows the building between Crofton Highlands and the Convalesent Center yet the county has denied any additional access roads off of 424... You have no plans to address Stormwater runoff in the wetlands on the E side of the leased land. You need to raise 10M to build and 500k per year to run the facility.... Who will run it if funding falls short? The immediate area will see increased trash, vandalism, noise, etc. You need 5 years to raise funds. Why is this being rushed as emergency legislation? Good idea but let someone with experience and funding do it so the county residents are not left playing for it like Compass Pointe.

Kenn Bing Just signed up! I have lived in this community now for three years and really love all that it offers. However, you are right on target as to what is missing for our children. Let me know what I can do to help.

Members,
In addition to having a good showing of support at the Nov. 2 Council meeting, I am told we can also affect the situation in a positive way by writing letters of support for the CRCC.
Just a brief letter to each of the Council memebers explaining why you think such a center would benefit our community would be... great. Getting them in the mail this week is important, so that the Council members will understand the situation better prior to the vote on Nov. 2.
Letters from businesses and/or community organizations are even better!
All the info you need is on the Council's Web site here: http://www.aacounty.org/CountyCouncil/in dex.cfm

Bruce Beardmore Thanks to all who've joined this group so far. Please do us a favor and take the time to invite any and all Crofton Residents who are on your friends lists to join this group. I'd like to see us number in the hundreds prior to the big vote on Nov. 2!

David Schoeller Didn't know it was going to have a skatepark too. That's cool!!
