Apparently the ‘big plan’ for Forest Street is to chop down the trees, widen the road, put in curb and guttering and add parking to the side of the street.

They are planning to sacrifice... an intact Victorian Streetscape.... Original Service Infrastructure and the 19th Century Ornamental Trees still standing... all on Town Owned Public Land... possibly the only Intact Victorian Streetscape in an Urban setting.......

(The mayor said they will not cut the trees. In actual fact they will destroy the root system, deprive them of water and nutrition, strangle them with asphalt and concrete and they will fall over in one to three years .)

This information was passed on to me and as to what will actually happen here is still a mystery. This group was created to show the "Town Fathers" that we do not want this street changed in any way.
I would like someone on the pro side to join and give their side of the story. (read less)
