Dear all, in an effort to keep the discussions healthy and constructive, please adhere to the following rules when posting:
1. No repeatedly posting irrelevant topics or posts like a spambot.
2. No repeated copying and pasting very large chunks of text. Using quotes and links to back up your argument is fine, but just copying and pasting all or nearly all of your response time and time again is annoying and destroys the structure of a debate.
3. No posting abusive personal attacks just to get a reaction (aka trolling).
4. No repeatedly deliberately misquoting someone to make them appear to support an opinion that they do not (aka quote mining).
5. No racist, sexist or otherwise offensive or overly aggressive behaviour. Because of the nature of different points of view, there will never be agreement on exactly what is 'offensive'. Therefore the admins have no choice but to use their own judgement over whether to issue warnings for 'offensive' behaviour.
Breaking these rules will have the offending post marked as Irrelevant and you will be given a warning.
***If you break the rules 3 times you will be banned.***
At the admins discretion persons with 3 warnings may be offered a Voluntary Leave Period in which they remove themselves from the group for a certain period. If they do not choose to do this they will be banned anyway, as well as if they return early or break the rules again once they are back.
Behavior that prevents debate and clogs up the message boards is to be discouraged.
Also, as with all facebook groups, any posts on the wall that are adverts, spam or trolling will lead to banning.
**Please do not conduct extended debates on the wall.**
The Discussion Board is there for a reason. If you are asked to move the topic to the Discussion Board, please do so.
NOTES:
- When dealing with offensive behaviour, the biggest factor in the admin's decision will not be an individual's personal feelings, nor freedom of speech/expression, but the group as a whole and whether such behaviour is turning people away from debate.
- Returning to the group under a different name WILL NOT get you three more chances!
- Using a fake profile is against Facebook's Terms of Service. Using one here will NOT get you banned from the group, although if an admin considers that this fake identity is being used for trolling, then it will be banned immediately.
If you see anyone breaking these rules, please either post a link on the wall or send one of the admins a message, including a link to an example of the rule-breaking where possible.
