This group is to develop a festival in Mazatlan to promote creativity, tourism, volunteerism, cultural exchange, green building, networking and community organization. The idea is to create a list of events on a web site that spands February to March. The site would be set up so that anyone who created an event could post it on the site, and in doing so, add it to the "festival".

The fact that Mazatlan is a tropical location close to the United States and Canada makes it an attractive location to host a gathering in the middle of winter, and travelers volunteering in the communities they visit is a growing trend around the world that Mazatlan can capitalize on.

Since arriving in Mazatlan ten years ago, there are many people and places in Mazatlan and on Stone Island that I have grown to love. I have only lived here about a year and a half in that time, but I want to spend more and do all I can to contribute to those who have given me so much.

I am an art teacher who helps people be creative. One of my interests is using litter to make art. We can clean the streets and beaches, and then make useful objects. In the coming month and following years, I will be offering workshops at schools, and seek help toward finding resources. I know many other professional artists who would also love to come here to share their skills with students and the public at large.

My interest is focused on creating global change through non-profit networking and egalitarian community organizing. There many opportunities for networking tourism companies and schools, develoing Mazatlan as an eco-tourism and cultural exchange destination. Creating a festival in Mazatlan is not just about helping the people Mazatlan, but also bringing the world to Mazatlan to learn how we can all live more abundantly in harmony with nature.
