So folks, it's recently been rumored that Houston is being strongly considered for World Youth Day in 2014. The World Youth Day for 2011 is almost definitely going to be Madrid. It is a tradition for a World Youth Day location to be announced at the World Youth Day preceding it. So on Sunday the Pope will announce WYD 2011 in Madrid and in 2011 we will hopefully hear him announce WYD 2014 in Houston!

We have two short years to make this rumor a reality. This is the first attempt to gather grassroots support for WYD Houston 2014.

Invite your friends and family, write to the Vatican, stir up some buzz, design logos, etc. Let's get this show on the road!

UPDATE: Sorry for the delay in updating folks. I work in DC politics and the past few days have been pretty busy for me. When I first started this group there was a rumor that WYD might be held in Madrid in 2010 to correspond with a holy year there (see link in the recent news section). As you all have observed, The Pope announced that World Youth Day will be in Madrid in 2011. This means that we have three years until the World Youth Day for 2014 is announced. (read less)
