**MYTHS** About Math Conferences:

1. There is no time to attend weekend conferences.

Now that's not true! It's only one day and besides, it is Pi Day - what else would you be doing?

2.There is nothing interesting to do at a math conference.

Also false! You can listen to talks given by other undergrads, meet new people, show off how many digits of pi you know, listen to people talk about math related careers,...

3. I do not have an interesting topic to talk about at a math conference.

Sure you do! Pi! You can talk about one of the ways people approximated pi in the past. Or, you can give a talk about your favorite mathematician! Or describe your solution to a difficult homework problem that you're proud of, or a Putnam problem you solved!

4. I wouldn't be able to give a good math presentation.

If you check out the tips from Joe Gallian, last year's keynote speaker, below, you'll be set!

5. I will be the only student at the conference.

This conference is specifically FOR students! The students completely outnumber the faculty. Last year over 150 undergraduate students attended.

6. Talks will be too difficult for me to understand.

Wrong again! All the talks are geared toward undergrads, including the keynote address.

7. I can't afford the cost of going to a math conference.

Sure you can! It's FREE!! And includes lunch!
