Queer Women of Color and Friends (QWOC+ Boston) is a volunteer-run, grassroots organization dedicated to creating and sustaining a truly diverse social space for LGBTQ women of color in the Greater Boston area.

We’re known mainly for our quarterly social networking events, and most recently, QWOC WEEK, a week-long multicultural pride festival featuring a variety of events and activities intended to increase visibility of LGBTQ people of color and spread awareness of issues pertaining to other marginilized cultural groups within the mainstream queer community.

Our events repeatedly prove to be one of the only occasions in Boston that draw out members of ALL ages, ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations and even tax brackets – an achievement we’re very proud of and determined to sustain. Diversity Speaks is our mantra; we believe that integrating our social networks will spawn the inter-personal connections capable of catalyzing the coming together of queer people across many social justice issues, and that subsequently, we’ll be able to create a more tolerant society.

Members of our community come from all over the Greater Boston area, and at times, have driven into town from as far as Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York to attend our events. But we’re not all just fun and games. We pride ourselves on our proactive year-round outreach to under-represented members of the LGBTQ community, including various socio-political organizations that promote awareness for a variety of LGBTQ issues, or align with our goal of increasing consciousness in some other way.

In the past, we’ve collaborated successfully with madfemmepride, Somos Latinos, the Boston Pride Committee, Queer Asian Pacific Association, The Network/LaRed, PFLAG, Fenway Community Health, and more. We look forward to working with even more cultural groups, non-profit organizations and LGBTQ community leaders in the upcoming year.
