We're not fussy about what we cover on SFcrowsnest.com as long as it belongs to the many worlds of the fantastic - that includes hard science fiction by Alastair Reynolds, Robert Forward, Gregory Benford, Charles Sheffield, Isaac Asimov, and Geoffrey A. Landis, Rudy Rucker, Vernor Vinge, Hal Clement, Larry Niven, Robert J. Sawyer, and Stephen Baxter. Alternate history or military science fiction. Fantasy SF by Ursula K. Le Guin, Anne McCaffrey and Marion Zimmer Bradley, Philip K. Dick, or Ray Bradbury. Cyberpunk by William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Pat Cadigan, or movies like Blade Runner. TV stuff like Star Trek, and Heinlein's Starship Troopers or the Dorsai novels of Gordon Dickson, and Joe Haldeman's The Forever War, as well as the modern MIL-SF authors such as David Drake, David Weber, and S. M. Stirling. Space opera and Steampunk are all good to go.
Superhero stuff is fair game too: so comic-books and graphic novels by Stan Lee (e.g. Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Hulk); Marv Wolfman, the creator of Blade for Marvel Comics, and The New Teen Titans for DC Comics; Dean Wesley Smith (Star Trek, Smallville, Spider-Man, and X-Men novels) and Superman are all in.
As for TV, well, take your pick - we're happy to write and talk about Doctor Who, Star Trek, Flash Gordon, Space Patrol, Rod Brown of the Rocket Rangers, Lost in Space, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise, seaQuest DSV, Babylon 5, Farscape, Quantum Leap, The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and spinoff Angel), My Favorite Martian, Mork & Mindy, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Eureka, Futurama, Heroes, Brimstone, Charmed, Hex, and Supernatural, Lost, The Outer Limits, Quatermass, Stargate Atlantis, The 4400, Stargate SG-1, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray, Blake's 7, Timeslip, The Tomorrow People, Sapphire & Steel, Tripods, Star Cops, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and Red Dwarf, Primeval, Merlin, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Anime and Manga work for us - Appleseed is a particular fave. (read less)Group for the online science fiction and fantasy magazine http://www.SFcrowsnest.com and its scifi FaceBook app at http://apps.facebook.com/sfcrowsnest/
