TCA News
There’s lots happening as always here at TCA and we’re really packing it in before xmas. December sees our first anniversary and we’re holding a special members day in celebration – see below for details, and we’ve a new weekday after-school session for 8-15 year olds. But first the news…

The Climbing Academy Youth Bouldering Squad
Sam, our Youth Development Officer and Youth Squad Manager, recently organized and conducted a series of youth team trials. After much deliberation and some very difficult decisions, we now have 16 young climbers that will represent The Climbing Academy at UK bouldering competitions. The squad members are aged from 10-16 yrs and will become a familiar site in the centre. Our first competition was at the recent Undercover Rock Climbing Festival and we’re pleased to report that everyone climbed well, with Hamish Potokar taking first place for the under 16s.

Airflow
We’ve recently spent more time thinking about our airflow and extraction and as a result we have installed another 3 fans in the centre with thermostatic control. When the temperature in the climbing area is raised to a certain point the new fans switch on automatically to increase the airflow inside the building.

Hard Wood
We are in the process of developing our very own fingerboard and campus rung range that should be on sale by mid December. There is a huge demand for this type of training apparatus and like everything at TCA, we’re taking our time to make sure they’re the best design and quality they can be at a very competitive price.

Hoodies and Tees
We’ve finally had our new delivery of TCA clothing, high quality and very reasonably priced. There are also female fit tees in orange and electric blue, and unisex vests in black.

Comp this Saturday
It’s the second round of the winter bouldering league this coming Saturday (21st). Our Boulder Club members and Youth Squad will be climbing from 10am to 12 and then it’s open to all our members who can start anytime between 12 midday and 2.30pm. You’ve 2 hours to complete 20 problems and there are prizes for winners of individual rounds as well as the overall league.
