Tomorrow, Thursday, July 30, 2009 the R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) will be working on the Mt. Hope Bridge (Rte. 114) between Bristol and Portsmouth. The work will require lane closures resulting in a single lane, alternating traffic pattern during work hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays.

Lane closures set late Friday night on I-195 East
Travel lanes will be restricted on I-195 East on Friday night, March 27, after 11 p.m. as drainage work is underway. The work area is just before the India Point Pedestrian Overpass. Three lanes will be closed to traffic, with one lane open, between 11 p.m. Friday night and 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The on-ramp from So. Main St. to I-195 East will also be narrowed for the work, but will remain open to traffic. Motorists should expect congestion in the area, especially those traveling between I-95 South and I-195 East, and may wish to use alternate routes through this time period.

Route 24 North Exit 4 in Tiverton closes Wednesday
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will permanently close Exit 4 (Central Avenue) from Route 24 North in Tiverton beginning Wednesday, March 25.
Motorists should use Exit 5 (Main Avenue) to reach the southern section of Tiverton. The new route should add less than five minutes to a trip.
The closed exit ramp will be used to store materials including beams for RIDOT’s ongoing repair project underway on the existing Sakonnet Bridge. Aetna Bridge Co. is carrying out the $2.5 million project. Discontinuation of Exit 4 is a scheduled closure, as it is within the alignment for the new bridge to replace the Sakonnet Bridge.

RIDOT construction project will repair Jamestown sea wall
A Rhode Island Department of Transportation project will begin March 30 to repair a sea wall on Conanicus Avenue in Jamestown, at its intersection with Bay View Drive. The sea wall protects Conanicus Avenue between Emerson Road and Bay View Drive from Narragansett Bay’s East Passage. The sea wall had been damaged by storms over a number of years.
The $495,955 contract for the work was awarded to R. P. Iannuccillo & Sons Construction Company of North Providence. During the construction, the northbound lane of Conanicus Avenue may be closed to traffic on some weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm when construction operations involving heavy equipment are underway. The necessary lane closure will result in one lane of alternating traffic during those hours. The work is scheduled to be complete by June 30 to avoid comflict with summer traffic.
