- 23/9/09 "Lar Le'ung" is the character named after me in the latest official Star Wars comicbook series. The author Tom Taylor is a friend and I shamelessly begged him to somehow include my name in the Star Wars universe. I told him "At least name a backwater swamp planet after me". Instead he made me a Jedi Knight. I have a yellow lightsaber! Star Wars:Invasion Issue#3 in stores next month.

"SUCKER" is at the Brisbane Festival.

I've been asked to be one of the judges for Raw Comedy on Sunday April 19. It's come full circle: Raw Comedy is where I got started in stand up comedy.
http://www.comedyfestival.com.au/season/2009/show/raw-comedy-national-grand-final/
It's a nation-wide stand up comedy competition run by the Melbourne Comedy Festival & TripleJ and the Grand Final is on Sunday in the Melbourne Town Hall. Chris Lilley and I both competed in the Grand Final of Raw Comedy back in 2000. Who will be this year's winner?
Come and support Australia's rising stars of comedy.

My favourite music shop "Polyester Records" is having their annual charity day, this Saturday April 18th. 20% of all sales from the whole day will go to the Cancer Council, Victoria.
Working behind the counter this year will be Alan Brough and Myf Warhurst (Spicks & Specks), Daniel Kitson (UK comedian), Fee-B Squared, Sam Pang & Michael Williams (RRR breakfasters), Marieke Hardy (The Age, JJJ), Julia Zemiro (RocKwiz), Andrew McClelland and Lawrence Leung (Time Ninjas)!
Both stores (Flinders Lane, city and Brunswick St, Fitzroy) in Melbourne.
If you wanna see when I'm working behind the counter check out the details here:

Get yourself some new music and support cancer research.

Thanks for tuning into the Rock Adventure. If you missed it, the repeat is on ABC2 tonight 9pm!
1) APOLOGIES FOR MY SINGING
For those who have messaged me about my song on MTV - yes, the song is on iTunes if you want to re-live the vocal car-crash that is my singing. There's some remixes too. (Someone made a Bollywood dance mix)

Also my rock star world is continuing... I'm programming cool music videos for RAGE on ABC TV this sat 4th, if you reckon you can stay up all night. Heaps of 80s music from movie sountracks and other surprises.

8/1/08 Happy New Year, Friends.
Sorry I haven't written for a while. I'm working on a few exciting things at the moment, keep an eye out.
A new comedy show: I'm writing a new show to perform at Adelaide Fringe and the Melbourne Comedy Festival show (reuniting a double act with Andrew McClelland) about the paradoxical world of Time Travel.
"Choose Your Own Adventure" TV show: I'm choosing DVD extras, artwork and consulting on the magnificent website design (it has cool interactive games with a Lego version of me!). Stay tuned for the launch of the TV show on ABC in early 2009.
Some nice words in The Daily Telegraph's 2009 TV predictions:
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24861189-5001030,00.html
Also I've been doing some consulting for a Lally Katz play at the Malthouse in March where I'm devising some very disturbing illusions and tricks.
Have a great new year.

7/11/08 Hello, for some reason my show "Lawrence Learns to Breakdance" has been nominated for a SMAC Award which I find slightly weird and quite delightful! The Sydney Music, Arts and Culture Awards are run by Time Out Sydney and FBI fm and I'm in the in the category of Best Performer alongside nominees such as Pig Island and Brenden Cowell's portrayal of Hamlet! Sheez.
Can a nerdy Melbourne comic be recognised in the Sydney performing arts world? You decide! If you would like my show to be recognised, you can vote for me here:
http://smacawards.com/smacawards/SMAC-performing-artist-of-the-year.aspx
Otherwise vote for Pig Island who are truly excellent.
(Voting closes on the 30th Nov.)
13/9/08 This Is Not Art Festival - the creative arts summit in Newcastle is a gathering of Australia's young arts makers, shakers and ballbreakers. It's four festivals in one: Electrofringe, Sound Summit, Critical Animals and the National Young Writers’ Festival. It takes place in Newcastle NSW 2–6 October and dabbles in music, zines, writing, activism, art and culture etc. www.thisisnotart.org.
I'm hosting a panel on the 2nd October, see you there. http://www.thisisnotart.org/2020-arbitrary-figures-and-advocating-real-cultural-change/
And a last-minute panellist for the Comedy session of the National Young Writers Festival at TINA. http://www.thisisnotart.org/funny-ha-ha-or-just-funny-/
13/9/08 Ahoy there! Do you like pirates? There's a show I directed a while back by the dapper and most amusing gentleman Andrew McClelland and it's getting another run at the Melbourne Fringe. The very funny, Comedy Festival award-winning comedy show, "Andrew McClelland's Somewhat Accurate History of Pirates" is back for two shows only, 26th & 27th Sept. Aarrr! See here: http://www.melbournefringe.com.au/season/2008/show/373/.
12/9/08 Wrap Wrap Hooray! After months of bloody hard work from the team at LeungShot and ABC TV, it's time to label the master tapes and punch out the write-protect tabs. Thanks to everyone who have been involved in the adventures, especially the production team for their excellent dedication, toil and hilarious good times. What a great bunch of dudes to work with.
... Stay tuned to this page for news of the official ABC1 launch of "Lawrence Leung's Choose Your Own Adventure" TV series.
