BARKADA is a word from the Filipino language, which means group of friends. BARKADA was started with a group of Filipinos and Filipino Americans that wanted to be recognized in Northeastern University. They wanted to have an organization that promotes Filipino culture through educational and social activities. It would unite the Filipinos and Filipino Americans as well as with the Northeastern community. Therefore, with the hard work and dedication, and the help of BARKADA's advisor, Mr. Quint, BARKADA became an official organization on January 26, 1998.
