What is the Tennis Club at UCI?
The Tennis Club at UCI welcomes anyone from the UCI community to participate in the wonderful sport of tennis. The Tennis Club at UCI is a collective group of individuals that share the common interest of playing and promoting the sport of tennis. We consist of a recreational aspect and also an advanced competitive aspect. We welcome players from all skill levels, whether you may be a beginner, intermediate, past high school varsity, or even a past collegiate varsity player, the Tennis Club at UCI has something for you!
What is the Recreational Aspect of Tennis Club:
A large majority of the members in Tennis Club are recreational players who enjoy the company of others when playing tennis. Since playing tennis by yourself may be difficult and boring, Tennis Club provides court time, tennis balls, and a large network of fellow UCI students that you can play tennis with. Tennis practices usually consist of tennis drill, games, and matches (singles, doubles, or mixed doubles) that are designed to enhance your tennis skill and also your enjoyment of the sport.
What is the Advanced Competitive Aspect of Tennis Club:
The Competitive Team welcomes anyone who is interested in playing tennis at an advanced competitive level. In addition to regular weekday (Tue, Wed, Thurs) practices at 7:30PM with the entire Tennis Club, the competitive team also conducts closed private practices on the weekends. We also travel to compete in tournaments one to two times per quarter to various off site locations such as: UCLA, UCSB, Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and many more. Out of state traveling may also occur. In 2010, the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships will be held in Surprise, AZ.
