Resurrected in 1999, the BGA is a non-profit student organization committed to the unification of its members through the facilitation of programs that strengthen the community of African American graduate and professional students across disciplines.
The objectives are:
1. To encourage scholarly and professional attitudes and performance amongst African American graduate students;
2. To promote participation in advanced study for students of color;
3. To promote activity interchange between African American graduate students of Purdue University and those of other colleges and universities;
4. To provide a professional and social opportunity for networking among African American graduate students at Purdue.
5. To provide a forum for the discussion of grievances, issues, and etc., of direct concern to African American graduate students
